The Environmental Foundation and DB Insurance announced that the Demo Day for the “Transportation & Environment Challenge (7th Cohort)” startup support program was successfully held on November 17 at the Orchid Hall of the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Samseong-dong, Seoul.

Since its launch in 2019, the program has discovered and supported 45 startups developing innovative technologies in transportation safety and environmental protection. The initiative aims to foster solutions to social challenges while contributing to a more sustainable future.

The Demo Day provided an opportunity for participating startups to present their technologies and business achievements through IR pitching sessions, as well as to engage with investors and industry experts through exhibition booths. This year’s event was particularly meaningful as alumni startups also participated, sharing lessons learned and growth experiences, helping to expand collaboration and networking among entrepreneurs.

The 7th cohort included six startups:

  • RoboRoad and Roen Korea in the transportation sector
  • VisCure, APGreen, Invelab, and Paperpop in the environmental sector.

The participating companies received KRW 30 million in business support funding, along with acceleration programs including entrepreneurship education, environmental training, ESG reporting support, and marketing mentoring to facilitate their growth at various stages of development.

During the IR pitching session, startups introduced technologies designed to address future challenges in transportation and environmental sustainability. RoboRoad presented an AI-based road damage analysis technology and autonomous repair robots, offering a more efficient approach to infrastructure maintenance. Roen Korea introduced an AI-powered traffic accident prevention solution for children, combining accident prediction systems with IoT devices.

VisCure presented its eco-friendly adhesive technology designed to reduce electronic waste, while APGreen introduced a hydrogen-based distributed power system. Invelab showcased AI and drone-based ecological restoration technologies, and Paperpop presented a sustainable paper furniture sharing model.

Among the participating companies, VisCure was selected as the Grand Prize winner. The company was recognized for developing optically clear adhesives for displays based on visible-light curing technology, which can reduce electronic waste generated during manufacturing processes while improving production efficiency.

In addition to VisCure, Roen Korea was selected as an excellent company, and a total of KRW 12 million in additional funding was awarded to participating startups.

Seokju Lee, CEO of VisCure, said,

“Through exchanges with other participating founders and mentoring sessions, we gained valuable inspiration. The Transportation & Environment Challenge has become an important stepping stone for our company’s growth.”

The Environmental Foundation emphasized the growing social significance of technological innovation in the era of climate crisis and reaffirmed its commitment to expanding the program.

A foundation representative stated,

“The key to addressing climate change lies in innovative technologies and the efforts to apply them in society. We will continue to discover and support startups capable of solving transportation and environmental challenges while expanding opportunities for technological innovation.”
