The Korea Green Foundation and DB Insurance announced that they successfully concluded the Demo Day for the 7th Transportation & Environment Challenge, a startup support program in the fields of transportation and environment, on the 17th at the Orchid Hall of Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Samseong-dong, Seoul. Since its launch in 2019, the program has discovered and supported a total of 45 startups, fostering innovative technologies for traffic safety and environmental protection while contributing to sustainable solutions to social challenges.
This year’s Demo Day was organized as a venue where the companies participating in the 7th cohort could showcase their technologies and business achievements through IR presentations, operate exhibition booths, and connect with investors and industry stakeholders. In particular, alumni companies from previous cohorts also joined the event this year, sharing the trial and error they experienced in their early stages as well as their growth journeys, thereby helping broaden the network among startups.
The 7th cohort included a total of six companies: RoboRoad and Roen Korea in the transportation sector, and VisCure, AP Green, Invelab, and PaperPop in the environmental sector. These companies received practical support for growth through tailored programs aligned with each stage of startup development, including KRW 30 million in business support funding, acceleration training, environmental education, ESG reporting support, and marketing mentoring.
During the IR pitching session, a range of technologies aimed at shaping the future of transportation and the environment was introduced. RoboRoad presented its AI-based road damage analysis technology and autonomous repair robot, proposing a way to improve the efficiency of aging road maintenance. Roen Korea unveiled a child traffic accident prevention solution that combines AI-based detection and accident prevention systems with IoT devices. VisCure introduced its eco-friendly adhesive technology that can reduce electronic waste generation, while AP Green showcased a hydrogen-based self-sustaining distributed power system. Invelab presented AI- and drone-based ecological restoration technology, and PaperPop proposed a strategy for creating a more sustainable everyday life through its eco-friendly paper furniture sharing model.
This year’s top prize was awarded to VisCure, which presented its eco-friendly adhesive technology. VisCure received high marks for developing a transparent adhesive for displays using visible-light curing technology, reducing electronic waste generated during the manufacturing process while also improving production efficiency. Including Roen Korea, which was selected as an excellent company, all participating companies received a total of KRW 12 million in additional support funding.
Seokju Lee, CEO of VisCure, said, “I gained a great deal of inspiration through exchanges and mentoring with the CEOs of the participating companies,” adding, “The Transportation & Environment Challenge has become an important stepping stone for our company’s further growth.”
The Korea Green Foundation emphasized the social significance of technological innovation in an era of climate crisis and expressed its commitment to continuously expanding the program. A foundation representative said, “The key to responding to the climate crisis lies in innovative technologies and in the efforts to apply them to society. We will continue to discover and support startups capable of solving transportation and environmental problems, and expand the stage for the diffusion of these technologies.”
