Why does wavelength matter if it is all just light?

To our eyes, light can feel like one broad category. To a molecule, different wavelengths can be very different inputs.

Wavelength is related to photon energy, and materials absorb or transmit different parts of the spectrum. If one component absorbs around 380 nm while another responds around 450 nm, the same light source can affect them in different ways.

That difference matters in an OCA for displays. A component added to block UV can also absorb the light needed for curing, slowing down the manufacturing reaction.

This is why “visible-light curing” is not a complete process description. We also need to know the wavelength range, irradiance, exposure time, and total radiant exposure.

In materials development, light is not just a color. It is a set of process conditions.
