VisCure Participates in Open Innovation Meetup Day with Chokwang Paint

2024 오픈이노베이션 밋업데이

The Startup Support Center of Chungnam National University hosted an Open Innovation Meetup Day to promote collaboration between established companies and startups while accelerating the market entry of innovative technologies.

The event took place on November 11 at Maruville Hall, Human Resources Development Center of Chungnam National University, bringing together Chokwang Paint, a demand-side corporation seeking new growth engines, and several promising regional startups.

Open innovation refers to a strategy where companies achieve innovation by leveraging external technologies, expertise, and resources in areas such as research, development, and commercialization.

The meetup was designed to encourage co-growth between large or mid-sized companies and startups by combining internal capabilities with external innovation.

Five regional startups with capabilities in materials, electronics, and ESG-related technologies were selected to participate in the event:

  • VisCure Co., Ltd.
  • Palladi Biotech Co., Ltd.
  • Enspectra Co., Ltd.
  • DK Bio Co., Ltd.
  • STH Co., Ltd.

During the meetup, the participating startups held one-on-one business meetings with Chokwang Paint’s New Business Division to explore Proof of Concept (PoC) opportunities and identify potential collaboration projects.

Following the program, Chungnam National University plans to conduct a final evaluation in January to select startups for the open innovation program. Selected companies will receive PoC commercialization funding and follow-up support for technology development (R&D) in collaboration with Chokwang Paint in 2025.

Seokju Lee, CEO of VisCure, commented:

“It is rare for startups to have the opportunity to meet large or mid-sized companies directly to discuss business collaboration. We are grateful for this opportunity and hope it leads to more continuous partnerships between regional startups and industry leaders.”

Kim Cheon-gyu, Head of the Startup Support Center at Chungnam National University, stated:

“This program is meaningful because it enables startups to build collaboration frameworks with large companies beyond limitations such as size or location. We will continue supporting startups to strengthen research outcomes and cooperative networks to develop a sustainable open innovation ecosystem.”
