[Chungbuk Ilbo] The Chungbuk Regional Headquarters of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency held the “15th Cohort Graduation Roundtable” at the Chungbuk Youth Startup Academy, where it awarded certificates of completion to graduating companies, presented outstanding company awards, and conducted a roundtable discussion to identify regulatory issues faced at startup sites.
The Chungbuk Youth Startup Academy is a specialized startup support program that discovers and nurtures young startup companies. It provides comprehensive support including workspace, commercialization funding, startup education, mentoring, and subsidies of up to KRW 100 million.
At the event, certificates of completion were awarded to the graduating companies of the 15th cohort, along with commendations for two outstanding companies.
Among the award recipients, Ageon Co., Ltd. (CEO Seo Hyun-sun) received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award, while VisCure Inc. (CEO Seokju Lee) received the Chairman’s Award from the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency.
Ageon operates a dermocosmetics brand based on a biomedical concept. The company was recognized for its rapid growth driven by differentiated technology, as well as for expanding its domestic distribution channels and strengthening its brand competitiveness.
VisCure is a technology-based company developing high-performance adhesive solutions using visible-light curing technology. It was recognized for its innovative technology specialized for the display industry, as well as for its technological competitiveness and growth potential.
The regulatory improvement roundtable that followed gathered on-site difficulties faced by young startup companies and shared various regulatory challenges encountered in the early stages of business, along with potential areas for improvement.
After the event, an exchange program was also held with the “Unicorn Club,” the alumni network of graduating companies from the Chungbuk Youth Startup Academy.
The session provided an opportunity to strengthen networking between senior and junior companies by sharing the growth experiences of earlier young entrepreneurs.
The newly launched subcommittee meetings of the Unicorn Club, which began this year, are expected to offer opportunities for representatives of promising local SMEs to form mentor-mentee relationships with graduating academy companies, enabling them to ask questions and receive guidance on various business difficulties even after completing the program.
Hwang In-tak, Head of the Chungbuk Regional Headquarters, said, “Today’s graduation marks the starting point of another challenge,” adding, “We will expand tailored support so that young companies in Chungbuk can continue to grow.” He also stated, “We will reflect the voices from the field in policy and bring about practical improvements to the startup environment.”
